Air quality affects everyone. That’s why we are leading the way with one of the first ambient air quality monitoring networks in Alberta.
Through this network, we are able to better understand the effects of industry and gather scientifically valid data about current local air quality as well as long-term trends. We’re committed to monitoring, measuring and improving our performance.
The air monitoring data accessible on this website is available as raw data only and may change upon completion of our data validation process.
Data Gathering and Reporting
The network gathers air quality information using the following distinct methods and systems:
- Continuous monitoring (readings taken every second, 365 days/year)
Network Locations and Measures
- Ardrossan Station
- Hydrogen Sulphide
- Sulphur Dioxide
- Oxides of Nitrogen
- Ozone
- Particulate Matter
- Wind Speed, Direction and Temperature
- Sherwood Park Station
- Hydrogen Sulphide
- Sulphur Dioxide
- Oxides of Nitrogen
- Ozone
- Total Hydrocarbons

The network manager submits a monthly report to Alberta Environment and Parks and SIA members that includes an overview of the network performance and data collected for the month and identifies any significant events and/or instances where Alberta Ambient Air Quality Objectives were exceeded. An annual report is also prepared and submitted to Alberta Environment and Parks that includes an overview of the network performance and data collected over the course of the calendar year.
