CEPA E2 Notice

November 26, 2025

Dear Neighbour,

In 2019, the Canadian federal government updated the Canadian Environmental Protection Act Environmental Emergencies Regulation, more commonly referred to as CEPA E2. As part of these updated regulations, industrial facilities using or storing regulated substances are required to routinely communicate with members of the public who may be affected in the unlikely event of an environmental emergency. The intent of this public notification is to create awareness of prevention and safety measures and communication protocols in place before, during and after an emergency.

The Strathcona Industrial Association (SIA) is a not-for profit association representing east Edmonton and Strathcona County heavy industrial operators. Our members share a commitment to safe and environmentally responsible operations and provide a common voice for industry. Several SIA members have CEPA E2 substances at their facilities. Use the QR Code to access information on their respective prevention and safety measures in the unlikely case of an emergency:

More information can be found on the federal government website at canada.ca by searching CEPA E2 in the search bar.
